For treatment of Eczema you should seek the uderlying cause first, but if you just want to give relief i suggest corticosteroids and anti histamines, you might add moisturizer too.
Go consult to your doctor.

Ask your pediatrician to refer you to a good pediatric dermatologist. There are so many skin treatments out there. I am sure they have one to help your son.
Best of luck!

Hydrocortizone 2% gets rid of the dry skin and the itch, and it’s not harsh at all. I buy mine at Target and get the store brand, since it’s much cheaper for the same as the regular stuff. Just make sure you read the label and buy 2% and not 1%. 1% doesn’t actually do anything to help the itching or dry skin.

As a life long suffer of excema, I understand your concern. I have seen doctors and take medication, and tried home remedies. This is what works for me: pickling salt and baking soda in the bath, but showers are best. Low sud bath soap and towel dry completly after bath and unscented lotions applied immediately.

What kind of products are you using? I only ask as I heard Arbonne’s baby line is really helpful even some adults use it with eczema – it’s pure natural and contains no mineral oils.
Just worth mentioning – our pediatrician has endorsed it for babies and kids with eczema -

My uncle suffered from eczema as a child.
My kids, both now adults, still suffer eczema. My son must wear 100% cotton (or as close as he can get) socks.
Sometimes the predisposition for eczema is hereditary. It’s can be caused by allergic reaction to foods, etc.
"There are different types of eczema, some classified by causes, others by specific symptoms. Atopic dermatitis is marked by a hypersensitivity, or allergy, to a food, inhalant, or other common substance that doesn’t bother most people. It tends to be genetically linked, affecting individuals with a family history of hay fever, asthma, or eczema. Flaking and scaling on the face and scalp are typical of seborrheic dermatitis, while contact dermatitis produces an acute local rash after someone sensitive to it comes in contact with an irritant (say, the nickel in jewelry or the oil on a poison ivy leaf).
"Many cases of eczema respond to soothing creams and various nutrients, but sometimes secondary bacterial infections can invade the irritated skin, and these may have to be treated with prescription antibiotics. A separate type of eczema, stasis dermatitis, affects the lower legs and ankles and is associated with insufficient circulation of blood in those areas. "
