is there anything you can get over the counter for excema? and if there is whats the best thing?
I use cortisone, it can prevent Eczema from getting worse. I have also used Aveeno. One thing I like for really itchy skin is dry oatmeal mixed with a little honey (1 teaspoon honey to 3 tablespoons of oatmeal) and then let it sit on you skin for 10 minutes. If that mixture is too dry moisten it with water.
For prevention, try using a lotion that is not petroleum based. That means stay away from words like petroleum and mineral oil. There are quite a few that have shea or cocoa butter as their main ingredient. Two other things that set my eczema off are alcohol and citrus, eaten not put on my skin.
To be honest though, I end up at the dermatologist 2 or 3 times a year for steroid shots and protopic. If your skin ever starts to bleed, go to the dermatoloist.
